Senior Software Engineer
Vasileios Lakafosis, Ph.D., is a senior software engineer with Uber leading the network automation projects across the entire infrastructure. He is fascinated by technical challenges pertaining to scale and resiliency of hyper-growing services in Data Centers and the Cloud. Vasileios is the creator of open-source Arachne, the packet loss and underperforming path detection system.
Previously, Vasileios was one of the first engineers, who developed the Locator ID Separation Protocol overlay technology at Cisco.
He graduated with honors from Georgia Tech with a doctorate degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering. His dissertation research work was listed among the 25 technologies in all categories featured in the 20-year anniversary issue of Microsoft Research, Redmond.
Vasileios grew up in Athens, Greece.
