Infrastructure Automation Through Software

Vasileios Lakafosis, Senior Software Engineer , Uber

Uber started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: How do you get a ride at the push of a button. Today it provides 15 million trips per day in 78 countries. To drive the explosive growth in its global business, Uber has developed a distributed software architecture that relies on a fault-tolerant and highly available infrastructure. This talk will provide a glimpse of some of the homegrown software and automation that power the Uber infrastructure; from automating the network turn-up of new Data Centers in 2018 to accelerating the server rack on-boarding from 4.5 hours to 12 mins and checking the health of the global network infrastructure every 10 sec.
