K.C. Hairston is a partner at Balch & Bingham LLP where his practice focuses on energy trading, power purchase/sale contracts, state/federal regulatory compliance, power plant construction and transmission issues. K.C. is a member of the Edison Electric Institute’s (“EEI’s”) Contract Drafting Committee; the Western Systems Power Pool’s (“WSPP’s”) Contract Committee; the International Energy Credit Association’s (“IECA’s”) Board of Directors; and serves as counsel to the North American Energy Markets Association (“NAEMA”). Based on his background in energy and law, K.C. advises a wide variety of companies on all aspects of data center siting and related power supply issues. K.C. currently advises data centers, developers and power supply companies on projects across the United States and actively works to locate new economical sites for the data center industry.
K.C. earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University and his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law. Prior to joining Balch & Bingham LLP, K.C. interned as an engineer for Southern Company Services, Inc. and Bechtel Engineering, Inc. at various coal, nuclear and gas power plants. K.C. also serves as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Birmingham, AL and the City of Mountain Brook, AL.
