Executive Director, Research
Andy Lawrence is the Executive Director of Uptime Institute Research, a division of the 451 Group, which aims to provide the Uptime Institute community with relevant and timely information and insights for managing critical digital infrastructure. He has researched, written and presented on a wide range of enterprise technology topics, spanning innovation and disruption, automation, software, energy, sustainability, and market development. Andy has represented 451 at the Green Grid, and contributed to European Union projects on cloud services and renewable energy. His current research interests include disruptions in infrastructure and energy, edge datacenters and distributed resiliency.
Before joining 451, Andy was the co-founder of Infoconomy, a publishing and research company focusing on enterprise IT; and was a technology and business journalist writing for business and national media. He launched several IT business magazines and information services in the UK and US. He has a degree in Philosophy from the University of Manchester, with an interest in Philosophy of Science.
